When Alayna was about 2 years old, we were making Valentine's Day sugar cookies. She was excited about the cookies that were just coming out of the oven, and as she ran into the living room to tell Daddy, she tripped and fell. Unfortunately, her mouth hit the coffee table, resulting in screams and blood everywhere. After a trip to the clinic, the ER, and then finally an oral surgeon, we were told that her top teeth had been hit the hardest, but they were most likely going to be okay. In the months and years that followed, she's had yellowish brown top teeth that were a constant reminder to us that she'd had the accident so long ago. At that time, we hoped they wouldn't have to be pulled. But when she turned 5 without any missing teeth, 6 without any missing teeth, 7 without any missing teeth, I was a bit worried! Eventually 1 bottom tooth fell out, but those top ones were hanging on. The dentist had assured me it was okay, which set my mind at ease, but still ... all of her friends were losing teeth left and right!
But then ... just a few days ago she lost one of the top teeth. She had bit into a marshmallow while we were outside, and then all of a sudden I hear screams. "My TOOTH! My TOOTH IS OUT! It is on the marshmallow!" :-) She was 7 years 9 months old.
And now that 2nd top tooth is getting pretty wiggly, too. I'll update with that picture as soon as it's out!
